Supporting Family Caregivers
Unpaid family caregivers have been struggling for years to support their loved ones with everything from coordinating medical appointments, to transportation, finances and household chores, even daily tasks like dressing and bathing. And they are doing it top of their own work, childcare, and health needs. COVID-19 has dramatically exacerbated the stress and challenges of caregiving and it’s taking a toll on caregivers’ health, especially their mental health. Recent data finds that, compared to non-caregivers, unpaid caregivers are 10 times more likely to think about suicide, five times more likely to start or increase substance use, and much more likely to avoid their own routine and even urgent care needs. While help is available, most caregivers don’t identify themselves a caregiver and are not aware of the supports available.

Join BCBSMA for this webinar to learn more about who caregivers are, what they struggle with, and how we can support them.
